Actors and actresses are judged by all kinds of people: film and TV critics, fashion bloggers, fans, non-fans... But the opinions that truly matter come from those who share their challenges and successes—their fellow actors and actresses.

The 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards took place last night. Nominated actors and actresses are selected and voted for by their peers. Awards included films and primetime television, the latter of which is separated into drama, comedy, and TV movie or miniseries categories.

In the Primetime TV categories, we were really excited to see some of our favourite series nominated, including Boardwalk Empire, Dexter, Nurse Jackie, Game of Thrones, True Blood, and Spartacus: Gods of the Arena. We were also delighted to see that HBO TV movies and miniseries such as Too Big To Fail and Mildred Pierce were also nominated. At the end of the night, Boardwalk Empire was the big winner, claiming the Actors for both Outstanding Cast and Outstanding Male Actor (Steve Buscemi as Enoch "Nucky" Thompson). Paul Giamatti and Kate Winslet also won for their lead roles in Too Big To Fail and Mildred Pierce respectively. See below for the full list of winners!

[Sidenote] - Having won both the Golden Globe and SAG Actor for his role as Hal in Beginners, we're pretty sure Canadian actor Christopher Plummer is a sure-win for an Oscar. It would be his first Academy Award, and a well-deserved one at that!
